Women’s Mental Health

Women’s mental health is important for their general health and wellbeing. Women tend to put the needs of others first, and they often forget to take care of their mental and general health. Depression and anxiety can affect women at any time in their life but there is an increased chance during pregnancy and the year following the birth of a baby. Up to 1 in 10 women experience depression while they are pregnant and 1 in 6 women experience depression during the first year after birth.

If at any stage of your life you find yourself unable to cope and you suspect that you may be suffering from depression or anxiety that is affecting you day to day ability to function, please make an appointment with you GP in order to get help and support.
